Adult protection therefore does not address disabled people’s dependence on support workers and professionals. It may help with the management of a particular situational risk factor, but it does not effectively reduce the individual’s level of exposure to risk in daily life, as it does not enable an increase of social and sexual competence or self-determination skills.
