I really enjoyed reading your post.  Its just mind-boggling to think that food costs so much now.  Personally, I think you're doing good to feed a household of three for the amount you are currently spending.  Maybe you could try reducing the amount of meat you eat and substitute it with lentils, beans, rice and pasta meals?

We had a similar problem and noticed that we were buying too many perishable groceries and no getting around to eating all of them before they went bad.
